As someone who secured six internships and came out of university with multiple job offers, the power of interview skills is something I cannot stress enough. In today's job market, having the "stats" is just not enough. The 'stats' will get you in the door, the interview will secure the job.
Sade’s Tips for Success:How to have a Winning InterviewTo come out a winner in the interview process you need to:
Be confident
You should have faith in your abilities and be ready to display them in conversation.
If you have deficiencies, don't shy away from them. Be aware of your weaknesses and address how you would work on them in the role (this shows real confidence)
Be well-informed
It's important that employers know that you know what they do, but take it step further. Have a couple talking points on the company's position and role as it relates to current events (like the current recession we're in).
Bonus Tip:
The worst thing you can do in preparation for an interview is NOT preparing for
for internships and jobs. Unless you are gifted in thinking on the fly, have a prepared answered for the major questions such as "tell me about yourself".
